Everyone knows you need to brush and floss, but can what you eat make a difference in your tooth health? Absolutely! While no food can replace good oral habits, here are the top five tooth healthy foods that can aid in protecting your teeth.

In addition to calcium, leafy greens are also rich in folic acid and the minerals and vitamins your teeth need to stay healthy. On top of their inherent benefits, leafy greens also require a good amount of chewing which can aid in cleaning your teeth of any built up sugar or acid.

 

Dairy

Dairy, especially cheese and yogurt, can be especially beneficial for your teeth. High in calcium and protein, diary helps to strengthen your tooth enamel which in turn helps to prevent cavities. Cheese also helps to raise your mouth’s pH level which has been shown to lower the risk of tooth decay. Yogurt also benefits your gums because of its healthy bacteria.
